  • CANDY CORN PAINT

October is here! My favorite month. I love the smell of the rain washed air, sweater weather, apple picking, pumpkin spiced everything, my birthday, Halloween, and colorful leaves! So much to love. This year Sprinkles and I decided to try our hands (and hooves) at making some homemade Candy Corn Paint- and it totally worked!

  • SNACK STAMPS

Whenever Sprinkles and I are cooking a meal together, it is always my job to slice any fruits or veggies that we may need. Being a unicorn has it’s perks, but slicing things up with hooves is usually a disaster. Well, this weekend while slicing and dicing I noticed that some of the produce had a bit of an artistic edge to it. So after we ate lunch… we played with our food. I know growing up your mother probably told you not to do this, but please… today I am encouraging it. Here are some fun “Snack Stamp” ideas for you and your littles. Have a blast!

  • Fairytale “Stained Glass” For Kids

I’ve always had a thing for stained glass. It’s so pretty! I love the way that is casts colors into the room when sunshine passes through it. I thought I had seen some pretty impressive stained glass in my travels…  then I got a pet unicorn. Sprinkles is from the Cotton Candy Kingdom. If you are a regular here at Colors Are Magic, you are well acquainted with our adventures to this magical land.

  • Rainbow Breathing Unicorn Craft

I always know when Sprinkles (my pet unicorn) is coming down with a cold. She can’t hide it. You see, when unicorns are sick, they breathe rainbows. Their snot is also rainbow. I know– being a unicorn is so much fancier than being a person sometimes. Especially when it comes to being sick.

One afternoon while trying to come up with a craft idea for the week and making chicken soup for my sick unicorn, it hit me! Rainbow Breathing Unicorns! If your little one loves them some unicorns, this craft is perfect. Read on. :)

  • Sharpie “Stained Glass” Night-lights

My pet unicorn, Sprinkles, is very afraid of the dark. I guess it makes sense… unicorns are used to light and sparkles. At night we have a bedtime ritual. We brush our teeth, I read her a bedtime story, we spray under the beds with our Monster Spray, and then we turn on our homemade night-lights. If you have a little one who doesn’t love the dark, then you should totally try making a couple of these. :)

  • 11 SUN CATCHER CRAFTS FOR KIDS!

Sun catchers may just be something pretty we put in our houses here on earth, but in the Cotton Candy Kingdom they are used for much bigger things than decorations. You see, in the Cotton Candy Kingdom, sun catchers are used to actually “catch the sun” so it can be harvested for medicine or used in healthy recipes. Since my pet unicorn, Sprinkles moved away from the Cotton Candy Kingdom to live with me, it is important that we have ample sun catchers around our house to collect sunbeams to keep her happy and healthy.

  • 12 Bubble Wrap Crafts & Activities for Kids

We currently moved houses and there has been a whole lotta boxes and bubble wrap in my life. Everywhere. And even though I am “all grown up” now, I still find myself loving to pop bubble wrap just like when I was a kid. Only now it feels more like a sort of stress reliever more than anything. So, as I was sitting on my new bedroom floor, unpacking boxes, and popping bubble wrap in between my fingers… I was inspired to post.

  • Grow A Rainbow

You maybe wondering where rainbows actually come from.  I know in school they tell you that rain and sunlight equal rainbows… but I am here to tell you that there is more to it. As many of you know, I have a pet unicorn named Sprinkles. She is the best. One of the perks of having a magical creature living under your roof is the getting to go on vacations to where they grew up. She is from the Cotton  Candy Kingdom (where her parents are the king and queen- another perk). One day she took me to their magical botanical garden and I was mesmerized by what I saw.

  • Treasure Rocks

Sprinkles and I love going on treasure hunts! Pretending to be pirates is a personal favorite of mine. We dress up in eye patches, pirates hats, and set sail on an epic adventure. That being said, first official day of summer is just around the corner (but it sure is feeling summery already!) Here is a super fun project to do it just so happen to be hosting a Pirate or Neverland birthday party this summer– or if you just want to have a fun afternoon in your backyard with the littles. This project does take quite a few hours to finish, so if you are going to do it, I recommend making it all the night before the party or your playtime.
