Whipped Hearts

Hey! It’s Sprinkles (Nickey’s pet unicorn).

Oh, Valentine’s Day. I know that for some people it is a bit depressing at times (I have been there– there aren’t very many unicorns in Colorado)… but I am not gonna lie…  I love it when the aisles fill up with a thousand shades of pink and hearts. It’s so pretty! One of our Valentine’s traditions is to make extra chocolatey hot chocolates and topping them with some beautiful and super yummy whipped hearts. They are perfect if you are having a Valentine’s Day or “Gal-entines Day” party!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Whip Cream

Cool Whip

Vanilla Extract

Food Coloring

Wax Paper

Cookie Sheet

Let’s get started…

1.) Empty your tub of Cool Whip into a large mixing bowl, then add 2.5 cups of Whip Cream and whisk well.

2.) Add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla and 1-2 drops of red food coloring to your creamy mixture and mix in well. I only used one drop of red food coloring to create this pinky color in my example. Next add 1/4 cup of water and mix in well. The water will help with the freezing process.

4.) Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper and spread out your whipped mixture about 1.5 inches thick, evenly over your cookie sheet.

5.) Place your cookie sheet flat into the freezer. I let mine sit overnight, but I checked it at about 5 hours and it seemed to be just fine.

6.) After removing your cookie sheet from the freezer, use your heart shaped cookie cutter to make your adorable Whipped Hearts hot chocolate toppers. Make sure that if you are going out to buy a heart shaped cookie cutter that you keep in mind the size of your mugs. The first one I bought was too big so I had to go back out on the hunt.

7.) Plop into a mug of hot chocolate and enjoy!

I also made a few of these little guys with just my whip cream. It’s super simple! Just spray some little dollops onto a wax paper covered cookie sheet (or a plate, depending on how many you’d like), sprinkle with valentine colored sugar sprinkles, and top with a candy heart. Freeze. :)

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! I hope it is full of love wether you are celebrating with a special someone, your family or your friends.

Love, Sprinkles
