My pet unicorn, Sprinkles, has a good friend back home in the Cotton Candy Kingdom. She is a little yellow fairy named Buttercream. I love her– she is seriously the sweetest! Buttercream is very afraid of finding monsters under her bed. Every time she comes to have a sleep over at our house she is up half the night… even after we use our homemade Monster Spray. Poor little girl.

  • Puffy Paint Monsters

My pet unicorn, Sprinkles, and I do a lot of painting in our household. We love it all– watercolors, acrylics, finger paints, and everything in between. Today we decided to paint some colorful monsters (friendly ones, of course). They were cute… but something was missing. We were painting furry monsters, but we wanted to make the painted fur look a little more “furry”. We rummaged through our cupboards to see what we had on hand, and after a little deliberation decided on making some homemade puffy paints. Now our little monster friends have more defined and 3-D fur. Perfect.

If you would like to make your own homemade Puffy Paint Monsters, it is super simple (you may just have everything you need at home already :) ).

Ever since we relocated to Colorado (I love that color is in the name of our new state. How fitting) my pet unicorn, Sprinkles, has been a little shaken up– which totally understandable. I know this will sound crazy to some of you… but I think the contrast of having so much noise to fall asleep to in NYC to the absolute silence here near the mountains makes it harder for her to fall asleep. She can hear every little weird thing that is going on outside and thinks there are monsters in the house. After 2 weeks of sleepless nights I decided that it may be a good idea to make a trip to the Cotton Candy Kingdom and ask her parents how to deal with all of this.

  • Monster-Doh

Monsters come in all shapes and sizes. Some are tall with wings, or are neon yellow with feathers and fangs. Some are tiny enough to fit comfortably in a thimble or as large as whale! There is a type of monster however, who has been overlooked.. and they need a just little TLC. Doh Monsters.

Much like a hermit crab who will out grow it’s shell and search for a new home, Doh Monsters are born like little lumps of clay and must find a protective jar to dwell in. Because they are indeed monsters… and I want to feel like it, they tend to look for jars that are decorated like monsters on the outside. They also enjoy some good playtime amongst human children and will come out of their jars to play. You see, Doh-Monsters are wonderful at shapeshifting and love to see children using their imaginations. But, if you are going to ever play with a Doh Monster just remember, they will need to go back into the jar home when you are done playing. If they stay out for too long they could turn to stone. No one wants that. It’s just sad.
