Laffy Taffy Finger Paints

I am not going to lie… I love banana Laffy Taffy. It’s delicious… and smells amazing. It’s even my favorite color… yellow. So while walking up and down the Valentine’s aisle,  with Sprinkles, I decided to pick up a bag of Laffy Taffy. While painting Sprinkle’s hooves and munching on a piece, I got an idea. Why not try making finger paints out of them? Seriously, why not? We have been painting with a lot of candy lately. It’s been better for our teeth and adds more fun colors to hang on our refrigerator.

They turned out great and smelled amazing. If you would like to try creating with your candy instead of eating it, you should really try out this recipe!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Laffy Taffy

Corn Starch

Cups or Containers

A Pot

Paper (the thicker the better)

(Note: You will need to make a separate batch for each color. Also, you will need either need to make this project for you children or assist them as this project requires a stove. Also, for some reason Laffy Taffy wrappers are not easy to get off… you may need to assist with that as well. Even I needed some help, ha!)

1.) Place 6 pieces of Laffy Taffy (in your color of choice) into a pot over medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp of water. Continuously stir until your Laffy Taffy is mostly melted (I used a fork for this step).

2.) Add you 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of cornstarch. Whisk continuously until your finger paints begin to form. Their consistency should look like this:

Make sure that you do not wait for the water to boil before you add the cornstarch, or your finger paints will turn out very lumpy.

3.) Remove from heat and put into a container to cool.

4.) Paint something awesome!

As you can see, we enjoyed painting with our Laffy Taffy Finger Paints and then used the end of a paint brush, to draw pictures and write words into the paints.

I hope you all have a great, colorful, messy time!
