Make sure you post your Love In Color challenges on social media (I myself am a Instagram-aholic. It’s a word.) and tag me/hash tag #colorsaremagic #projectloveincolor. “Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day….” I have sang this song quite a few time over the years as a nanny. Being an artist (and someone who is crazy about children’s books) the imagery of putting a falling star in my pocket makes my heart happy. So, of course on Saturday while sitting at my painting table and humming this little tune an idea sparked in me. What if I made something special for my neighbors to put in their pockets to cheer them up? And since I obviously think colors are magical… what better thing than rainbows? Answer: nothing.

This is something easy and fun that you can do with your kids (or by yourself) to bring a little color and kindness to your neighborhood. Simply cut the bottom of a piece of paper into tabs (Just like you would see on a homemade for sale sign) and use your imagination to create something positive on each tab. You can make anything… rainbows, stars, smiley faces, positive words, unicorns, cupcakes…. Let your imagination run wild. Your neighbors will definitely have their day brighten by your random act of kindness and creativity. Hang your sign on a local bulletin board, your mailbox, or wherever you can think of. Except for my a wild animal—or anything illegal. We are more creative than that. Your kiddos will be so excited to check later that night or the next morning to see how many of their little treasures were taken.
